The newly-elected leader of the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo (LDK), Lumir Abdixhiku has pledged to soon return his party as the main political force leading the country.

“We’ll be back as the leading political force,” he claimed.

In front of the delegate, who entrusted him his new position, Abdixhiku asked for unity and collaboration within the LDK.

He added that this party’s ideas started with the late former-President of Kosovo, Ibrahim Rugova and they continue to be relative to this day.

“Today we are opening a new chapter, aiming to return the LDK in its rightful place. We should start our party’s return and transition starting from ourself. LDK’s ideas have passed the test of time, as they started from our historic president Ibrahim Rugova. That is why our return is only a matter of time,” he added.

The new appointed leader of the LDK, criticized LVV by saying that its leftist policies aim the disintegration of Kosovo.

Lumir Abdixhiku was elected as the new leader of the LDK after the elections held today by the 355 delegates of this party.

Abdixhiku has been part of LDK since 2017 and was elected three times in a row as an MP in parliament during the last electoral process.

These recent elections in LDK were held after Isa Mustafa resigned from the leadership of this party, following their loss in the snap parliamentary elections of February 14th.

In the last elections, LDK came in third, taking 12.73% of the votes, a result that was twice as low compared to October 2019.
